The Velveteen Rabbit Challenge And Positive Change

By Virginia Foster

While change can often be hard for some people, changes for the better can often benefit oneself and others. If seeking such change, individuals may want to explore the Velveteen Rabbit Challenge, a challenge to make positive changes in life based on a children's cartoon. For, just imagine how great it would be to see individuals become more motivated when it comes to professional and personal growth while also becoming more loving of oneself and others.

Based on the reality that only through hard work are people able to discover true potential, the challenge is a good one. For, only when individuals can overcome these challenges and obstacles can one help others do so. As such, the ability to succeed and work toward goals and visions in the future is essential.

While this is the case, it takes time to learn how to do so. In addition, compassion, patience and trust are also a big part in giving birth to a new sense of self. For, it is often easier to hold on to older ways of doing things rather than learning better ways. Although, at times, doing so can prevent personal and professional growth and get in the way of achieving goals and reaching success in different areas of life.

By examining oneself and peeling back layers of past experiences, people can be reborn into a truer nature. While undergoing this challenge, people recycle through birth and death many times over during life. In this case, the word dying meaning to eliminate the old ways of life and coming to terms with the darker side which exist within all human beings.

In taking a close look at one's inner self, it allows the individual to examine past and present behavior and experiences without criticism or judgment. Rather, doing so allows the individual to awaken to a new reality and new ways of doing things while also making peace with the dark side often present in the past. For, when an individual is in a tumultuous war with oneself, the individual is also most likely at war with society at large.

Another key element of the challenge is acceptance. For, when individuals can learn to understand and love past experiences, especially the broken dark aspects of life, only then can individuals find the velveteen rabbit inside. A rabbit which has been within each person through birth and all that which has effected our spirit during life.

Whether waking up to the rabbit due to sickness, threats, loss of loved ones or a relationship, it is often during trying times that individuals make this discovery. For, the light within can often become overshadowed during these and other life events. Whereas, when recovering from loss or other trauma, individuals often mature enough to recognize the importance of peace, love and understanding, all of which are characteristics of the light which the rabbit provides.

While people may feel ragged, torn and exhausted, change can take place. For, if individuals have the courage to erase the past and move toward the future, change is a natural process. It is important to be aware of these changes to assure that negative behaviors are eliminated while positive change takes place. After which, if individuals grow and nurture these changes, the changes will become seeds of growth into a happier, healthier and more positive life experience.
