Basic Cooking Skills For Students

Most college students don't have much of an idea of cooking, unless they have been trained to do so. The average person will know how to make a cheese sandwich, and they will probably know how to fry an egg. When mom has been looking after you, it makes life so much easier. However, basic cooking skills are necessary when you are on your own.

Ordering pizzas and going to MacDonalds every night is never a great option. A student, especially needs a healthy diet, obtaining all their vitamins and nutrients. There are so many recipes that you can put together in 20 minutes. This includes pasta or stir fry. Sometimes, you make too much and you pull something out of the freezer. It may be a good idea to do this on purpose.

Making big rice dishes or pasta with tomato cream sauce as well as that which is in a light basil and tomato sauce take no time to cook. The best way is to decide what you are going to eat for the week. You will then do your grocery shopping, according to the budget that you have. This may take more time, but you will take advantage from it in the long run.

A couple of desserts will come to good use as well. Many people know how to make the basics, but there are folks who have no idea where to start. They don't know how easy things like cookies and cake can be. There are even some gourmet delights that can be served at dinner parties which are a real treat.

There is also a trick to cooking this. Fortunately, these days, you will find cooking instructions on the bag. It can be different for every type of pasta. Most people overcook this on their first attempt. Have a look at the instructions and you be eating something which is Al Dente. Check the pasta every now and again to make sure that they are not sticking together. A little salt will help as well.

Choose your leaves, throw in some cheese of your choice and choose chickpeas, red onion or avocado. You can swap this for crunchy veggies with a nice creamy dressing. A nice easy dressing consists of 1 part balsamic to 3 parts olive oil. You can make a healthy yogurt dressing with olive oil as well.

Rice is something else that goes with everything. You can make a curry or a stew. You can make a rice dish if you want. The options are endless. It is not necessary to have a rice cooker to perfect this. Just make sure that all of the water is cooked out, and that you have measured it up properly. This is how your rice will stay nice and fluffy. There are all sorts of rice available.

There are some great soup recipes online. Look for new resources which are inexpensive and easy to make. Make a big pot of soup which you can have during the week. You can even take some of this with you to your classes. There is nothing better to heat you up like this during the winter months when it the cold.
