It is estimated that about half of the population in the world enjoy rice as a staple food diet. What makes rice so popular is that it is affordable, versatile and highly nutritious. It is also very easy to store and cook. Since it is eaten so much, it is also cooked a lot. It is unfortunate that many people cannot cook rice properly. The Joyoung Rice Cooker can address this problem.

Rice is one of the healthy grains we have. It is low in fats and very rich in some of the complex carbohydrates. We have different types of rice such as dehydrated rice, parboiled or even frozen rice. One of the healthy rice types is brown rice which is also an excellent source of fiber.

The traditional rice cooking method is the most popular. Rice is measured and then added to another measured quantity of water. The mixture is put to a boil and then steamed.

However, the results of this method of cooking are not usually enjoyable. In some cooking instances, the water may be too much and draining it after the rice is done messes up the texture of the rice.

Other times, the challenge comes in regulating the heat during the steaming stage. After the rice has boiled, steaming is done for a short period with very little heat. Some people are not able to gauge the right amount of heat to use and they end up with scorched rice at the bottom.

Asians are known to be the best at cooking rice. If you visit an Asian restaurant, you will notice the perfect texture, fragrance and delicious taste of the different rice dishes served. The secret they use with all these dishes is the use of electric rice cookers.

The origin of rice cookers is in Japan. To the Japanese, rice cooking is an art they take seriously. The first rice cookers were basic and simple. The latest technology of rice cookers has advanced and now includes different settings for different rice types. Some models even include settings for other grains and foods.

Rice steamers are the best when making fluffy and perfectly textured rice. To achieve the best rice, it is important that one uses the cup that is offered as part of the cooker to measure the rice and water. The rice cookers cook the rice at a constant temperature until all the water is absorbed.

When the water starts boiling, a temperature of about 100 degrees is maintained by the cooker. The rice absorbs the water slowly as it cooks. Once it is ready, the cooker adjusts the temperature automatically and sets a keep warm function. This keeps the rice warm until it is ready to be served. When using the Joyoung cooker, you do not need to worry about the rice getting scorched.

In Japan, rice is considered a meal. The advancement of the rice cookers to include the preparation of other meals is beneficial. Some of the non-rice dishes that can be prepared to perfection using the rice cookers include steamed vegetables, soups, desserts, stews, hot cereals and even meats.
