How Feng Shui Bagua Changes Lives

By Edward Cook

Many people have heard of this practice because it is a highly popular way to read a room and see how its individual sections can be improved to benefit the whole. Some people may have heard of feng shui bagua referred to as ba-gua or even pakua, but it all means the same thing: mapping out the energy pathways of a house and seeing how they relate to a person's life. The ancient masters of this practice determined that there were eight parts of life that come into play.

As with any ancient tradition that has found its place in modern day, there are some who prefer more traditional ways of doing things and others who follow contemporary schools of thought. There is no right or wrong way of doing things, and it comes down to personal preference and style. It is important to definitively choose which method you're going with and not try to incorporate both, as they tend to conflict with each other.

The ability to use a compass to get readings on a space is critical in this process. There are several readings that must be taken, including at the front door. Watching videos online can be helpful to see exactly how it's done.

People can see benefits in all kinds of different spaces when they apply the techniques used in these ancient traditions. It is important to know exactly what type of space is being dealt with and to use the right methods. There are many helpful resources online to make sure you're on the right track.

For those who are just starting out with this practice and don't know a lot about it, the Western pakua, also known as BTB, is probably the best choice. This is because it is considerably simpler than the traditional version. It is a good way to avoid getting overwhelmed with the process.

There are nine squares or sectors all together in the modern or Western form of pakua, also known as BTB. Once the house is divided up, eight sectors are correlated to the person's life in different ways. The last sector is known as the Yin Yang point, which is also called the Heart of the Home.

After every part of the house has been broken down into a sector, it is time to decide which part of a person's life relates to which of these sectors. This is not a matter of guessing and choosing, as there are predetermined factors that have to do with where things are physically located. Tending to the specific needs of all areas has been found to have a great benefit on the whole.

It is worth taking the time to research which area of a home corresponds to which area of life because it comes from an ancient practice that people have benefited from for thousands of years. The northern part of the house relates to the person's career and the southwest with love. Each area is also designated with an element and color.
