By Edward Wood

It is painful to deal with insects that are eating away on your head. For parents and guardians, it is unimaginable that your children have itchy scalps and at risk of infections. There are head lice removal methods that you can apply to deal with this problem, either naturally or using medicines. You can apply the method that works best for your situation.

Comb the hair regularly to keep it neat. Ensure that you are away from chaff and untidy places because the insect can jump off. Since they live on blood, they will die immediately they are off your hair. Through combing, you also make the environment too dry and uninhabitable to insects. Keep a neat and clean scalp and the chances of insects will reduce.

Use products that have pyrethrum. This is one of the most effective remedies when fighting insects. In fact, it has been used in almost all products used to fight insects. It works by attacking the nervous system of the lice, causing them to be incapacitated and eventually die. You will need to apply the product when the hair is already dry. This is an effective way of preventing resistance. A follow up application is done 7-10 days later.

Use olive oil on your hair. This is a surprise addition because it is known best for kitchen use. The advantage of using olive oil is that you are dealing with a natural compound. This means that you will not develop resistance even over time. You can use it over and over. By applying olive oil, you suffocate the insects causing them to fall off.

Use the hair drier to kill the insect using heat. This method is only effective to some extent and depends on how well you apply it. The hair drier should be used on a head that has just been washed. The little buggers will be bothered by the heat and therefore die or escape. The effectiveness of this approach depends on how much heat you can take.

Hair dunking is a clever way of dealing with bugs in your hair. You drown them in a liquid or substance that denies them air. You will need to be in water or apply the liquid for a while to be effective. Adding insecticides and soap to the water makes it more effective. This will also clean your scalp. Unfortunately for some insects like lice, they can survive in water for hours. However, leaving the head to cake will make conditions unbearable.

Vinegar has been suggested by experts. It is known for cleaning greasy surfaces. The way it works is by dissolving the sticky substance that these pests use to avoid falling off the hair. You can use vinegar alone or add it to other cleaning substances. With nothing to hold onto, the insects end up falling off.

Home remedies are preferred because they are free of resistance. It means that you can apply them several times without experiencing resistance. Follow instructions or involve an experienced assistant when using these methods. It is your accuracy that will determine whether you succeed. Keep a neat scalp and the bugs will be eliminated.
