Old Testament Prophecies About Jesus

By Dorothy Stone

When it comes to predicting the future, there remains a great deal of skepticism. For, while palmist and tarot card readers claim to have such abilities, there has yet to be valid proof. Whereas, many early Prophecies about jesus do seem to hold some validity when it comes to proof in New Testament writings.

At the same time, there is a great deal of skepticism as to whether any such predictions have been fulfilled by Christ or other figures in the Old Testament. In one case, the odds of a single individual fulfilling 400 much less 55 of these predictions can be hard for even the most scholarly theologian to believe.

Over time, there have been professors, scholars and theologians whom have attempted to prove the odds that Christ could have fulfilled over four hundred prophecies, those odds being over 1.5 million has caused a great deal of disbelief and skepticism even among the most scholarly individuals. As such, while there have been approximately fifty five which most Christian theologians believe to have come to pass, that number is far less than the four hundred others believe to be the case.

In retrospect, there are also a number of Christians and reformed Jews whom believe that most Old Testament prophecies have been fulfilled by the Messiah, or the man known as Christ. At the same time, it should be noted that anyone whom states to confirm such findings is most likely doing so as an act of faith rather than scientific proof. For, the individual must also believe the prophecies as relayed in the earliest books of the Bible have also been fulfilled.

While it is possible to see the correlation between some predictions which have been fulfilled, others remain questionable. There are actually only a few of these predictions which scholars have been able to prove. The first being, that the Messiah would come from the tribe of Judah, 1 of the 12 tribes of Israel as portrayed in Genesis 49:10.

While still somewhat amazing, it was not until 1500 years later that the prophecy would be proved to have been fulfilled. With one of the most important predictions being that the Messiah, or the man known as Christ would be descended from King David. While this is the case, it should be noted that Orthodox Jews and Christians differ when it comes to Christ being the Messiah. For, while Christians believe the Messiah to refer to Jesus, orthodox Jews believe the Messiah is yet to come.

While these two predictions are most likely the most popular and well known, there still remains a great deal of disbelief as to either having been fulfilled. For, it is difficult for some to understand how if Christ is the son of God, the individual could also be a descendant of David.

In order to better understand these and other prophecies, it is often advised that an individual read a number of books related to the time in which the Old Testament writings took place. In doing so, it can become easier to understand the meaning behind each prophecy and whether or not there has been any indication such prediction has taken place. After which, it is up to each individual to decide for oneself whether or not the proof can be accepted as an act of faith without having proof that such writings are accurate, true and correct.
